Our Story

Creativity, passion, and hustle are a few effects of a global pandemic. A driven immigrant Afro-Latina & her son hope to spread love with their food and their culture!

Me and my mom had one goal in mind -- to own our own business. Every day, I’ve witnessed her hard work, passion, & hustle.  So I took it upon myself to find a way by using social media to promote my mom's talents and transform that into her own business.

It all began when I asked some friends if they would like to try my mom’s empanadas. When everyone eagerly said yes, it was not a surprise. Everyone loves empanadas, especially my mom’s. Soon, we started selling them to friends and family. Very quickly, orders started up to flood in, and by word of mouth we started getting orders from a lot of people -- even strangers. Creating our social media pages (Instagram, Facebook, Nextdoor) was a big turning point for our orders.

In Colombia, in every community, in every mercado (market), empanadas are a common delicacy. We wanted to embrace that accessibility, so a friend recommended we start selling Doña Joche empanadas at the local gas stations. After many tries, we finally got one. That one -- soon turned into 5 gas stations in a matter of months.

With delivery orders & gas station sales, my mom was able to quit her job at a restaurant and own her own business. Now she can make her own hours, not expose herself to Covid-19, worry less about a stressful work environment, and start living life on her own terms.

We grew because of the support from our community -- our peers, family, strangers -- all for the love of authentic Colombian empanadas. Now we're striving to have the best empanadas in Georgia.
